Ok- here's what I've got so far for rear suspension.

SAW 21 3/4" 28mm torsions (I know- I've been told they're too thick)
Spring plates for short torsions
3x3 arms
Type I trans

What size axle do I need?
What would be the best torsion to use? Topless baja. Mostly street, mild off-road use.

What CV's should I get? Are these a decent unit? Price fair? on ebay

How about these? ebay too

Are all 930 CV's the same???

I still need stub axles. Sheesh, I'm spending a lot of money and I haven't even gotten to the front end yet! (The rear end isn't done yet either!)

You will need 20 1/4 axles with a T-1 trans & 3x3 arms. The 930 CVs are the way to go if you have the $$$, I bought a set of those from that guy on ebay, very good quality CVs.

The second ebay ad is a bit spendy.

All 930s are the same, but there are a few different boot kits for them (talk to Don at Chirco he can help you with those).

You will need stub axles, and drive flanges for the trans.

Also dont forget the CV bolts, they are different from the T-1

Are the stub axles specific to 930 CVs also? The setup, from trans out, goes: 930 flange/inboard 930 CV/20 1/4" axle splined for 930 CV/outboard 930 CV/stub axle splined for 930 CV, right? And the drum goes on the stub axle? Are outer stub axle splines different? Do I need a specific type of drum because I'm using 930 CVs/stubs, or will T-1 backing plates/brakes/drums work?

Thanks bugzyla...

That first auction price is cheap. (I paid quite a bit more)

Daryll mentioned the rest of the stuff you need. Did the arms you bought have bearings and spacers?

I do not think 28's are too big. You have the shorter bars and longer arms so you need thick to handle the leverage. Chirco's used 27's w/stock arms.

No bearings and spacers or bolts that I can see. Just the poly bushings on the outboard pivots. The spring plates are still attached to the arms- I'm assuming you're referring to bearings and spacers at the inboard pivot point?

I'm going to use the 28's then and see how it goes....

The shorter T-Bars need to be thiner than the longer ones for the same srping rate.

The longer your traling arms the thicker the T-Bars need to be to have the same spring rate.

Here's what you need for the drive axles flange to stub axles.
www.chircoestore.com/c...bc7580cf58

You will need wheel bearings, spacers, seals and bearing retainer c-clips for the arms. And yes the stub axles are different where the cv bolts up to it, but the spline, etc is the same.

with 930s 20 1/4 axles may be too long. i would go with 19 1/4.

19 1/4 is for bus trans, 20 1/4 is for type 1. There was a guy on another forum talking about his 20 1/4 bottoming out, but the people who sell the kits for a living say it is the correct size. (But with so many parts coming with no quality control, it is hard to say if 2 parts the same size are the same size.)

I will install mine and see, if too long, a new set is only a phone call away.
(but that will be awhile before the car is ready for them.) Wink
