Yesterday tried out the pipe bender from Harbor Freight then took it back. I can now say from experience that it is not the bender I want to do my work with. Got on line and had pro-tools send me the drawing for the HMP-200.........everything is on hold with the car till I build this bender.

theres been numerous people try that bender with no sucess. Due to the fact that it's a pipe bender and not a tubing bender. Pipe is measured by I.D. and tubing is measured by O.D. Hope I didn't get that backwards Embarassed

Put the beam back under my dune buggy. Now I have some clearance and travel I will try and get my wife to take some pictures and post them. More smarts than I have. Now my front end is much higher than my rear. I also will have to figure some thing out for steering. What do you guys and gals recomend for a rack type steering? thanks Mufasa

I bought this one:
www.chircoestore.com/c...a42e20b30d

He also sells them just the rack and pinion. They show how to install it on their Baja build.

DONT- is your car a tube/one-piece front end? Will this setup install relatively easily on a car with the original nose (trunk) still on it? I am planning on a Chirco body lift (poor me- bugzyla's too busy to make one right now), if that will make any difference.

My car is in line for Bugzilla to weld up. The front section will be a modified version of this:
azbaja.com/coppermine/...ize=1.html

Whatever Daryll feels is right. And a 1 pc frt end. As far as a rack with the rest of the front end, I would imagine it is possible. With the body lift the steering column may even clear the fuel tank.

So, today I actually did something with my pan. I pulled the front beam off (selling it), and also pulled the trans off (don't need it either). Then, I stood the pan up against the back fence and sprayed it off, since it's been outdoors collecting crap for at least a couple years. I then started scraping off all the original floor insulation.

My baja is now leaning up against my back fence. =)

#1 I think they look goofey.
#2 I am building the car with side money and am not loaded.
#3 I like a VW to somewhat resemble a VW, like an aircooled VW engine as well.

Now if I was spending 100k on a class 1 car, then I would go with an A arm and coilover-bypass suspension. Laughing
