I aquiered a 1964 vw bug on 02/12/07. most of the inportant stoff was there lights, trans, moter 1600cc non running , and most inportent the pinkslip!! it had alot of extras such as 3 carb setups stalk, progresive, and webber 44. the previs owner installed a new trans in 02 with 4.12 dif, 3.80 1st gear, 2.06 2nd gear, 1.31 3rd gear, and a .82 4th geag. so i was happy with the perches 1000 duckets Smile .

I just got it running today. after putting new slives and pistons in it. replaced the tins also. I used the webber 44 carb setup. I had a problem with some of the wireing. No! No! No! No!!!! the oilcooler fan had ben okeyriged with a togel switch just laying on the floor next to the parking brake. I couldn't get a strate ansore on the oiltemp switch on how to wire it back in, so i put a new switch on the dash with an endacater light to let me know it's on or not.

I,m not done yet. just got started on the prodject. the brakes sill need to be done. needs a fender kit, some chopping, and lifting, paint, and a rollcage.so like the titel just got started.

new doghouse i replaced it with the tins, but the previous oner took out the oil cooler and installed this one from a truck, its a trans cooler. Confused he told me that he did this becouse the stolk oil cooler made the 3rd cilender over heat. so i just went with it. Neutral is that ok, or should i put the stalk one back in?

if cyl #3 wasnt cooling enough with a stock doghouse and cooler, then somehting was out of wack. many aircooled guys run doghouse and fan with no probs.

make sure the tins fit tight around each other, screw then together if ya need. I did that where the bottom cyl tins meet the doghouse. forms a better air flow.
