Craigslist 090? bus trans for sale

Just wonderin' if this would be adequate for me... I know NOTHING about these things, just that I heard BUS is better than BUG when it comes to transaxles. I know I need a front-shift and not side, blah blah blah...

HELP!

Thanks,
Tony

By "new mount" you mean alter the horns that the tranny sits on? Is there a weld-on kit for that, or do you find a donor bus and hack it off of there?

whats the reason for upgrading ? just want to ? your bug tranny is pretty strong as long as you dont abuse it. if your installing a larger engine like a stroker or water cooled buy the 009...imho is it going in a rail or bug ?

I'm just building a 1835 or so street legal trail baja. Would like some decent suspension, but won't be racing or abusing it too much at all. Might get off the ground for about one second once in a great while, but that's about it...

Think a bug IRS tranny will suffice? I HATE to underbuy for what I'm doing, then regret it later... If a minor mod is in order now, while the pan's bare naked, in order to avoid headaches and broken crap later, then I'm all for it...

Thanks for the input!

There are 2 ways to mount them. One is a bolt in kit which puts your shift tube above the tunnel, so you mount a shifter box above the tunnel. The other is a 10 degree mount, you have to weld it in, tilts the front down, rear up 10 degrees (imagine that, just like the name!) the shift tube stays in the tunnel, quite a bit of cutting, fitting and welding, you also loose 1 1/2 to 2 inches of rear travel due to the new location of the output flanges.

KCnaz is installing a 10 degree and has pictures, I just didn't look for it when typing this.

BTW 300 is an average to good depending on condition. It looks nicely painted.

That doesn't look like any 090 I've ever seen before. Not a bad deal though.
