Ok, so I spoke with my VW buddy about changing the stock fuel line that runs through the "hump". I didn't like what he had to say about that. It's mounted via clips inside the hump and the only way to get at 'em was to drill all the spot welds from the bottom. No! No! No! No!!!! No! No! No! No!!!! No! No! No! No!!!!
I don't think so Tim!
What do you guys do? What about running braided hose type fuel line and letting it just lay inside the hump? Wink

BEND IT TO FOLLOW HUMP, TIE IT DOWN WITH SCREW ON WIRE CLAMPS, THEN USE A CAULK GUN AND RUN A BEAD OF SILACON OVER IT , THINK ABOUT IT WHERE DO A RAIL RUN FUEL LINE?

you can run a new line through the center hump. just cut 2 access holes in the side of the hump to feed in/ out the line.

Yes it’s been done. When I bought my car it was copper line run under the car in the channel and diet to the mounting screws with bread ties. Now it runs on passenger side of tunnel with hold down clips. Mirror image of brake routing on drivers side.

vwbill, you have a good name Wink That is incredible, I can't believe someone would mount it on bottom. You bottom out and you are risking it pretty hardcore. Oh well, I have seen someone replace their fuses for 9mm bullet shells or something on the samba, lol

Yep, I knew better than to run the new line under the car. Just wandered what folks thought about the braided hose through the hump.
I guess I could run a metal line down the passenger side.
My problem with that approach was it being on the inside of the car and getting nicked or something and leaking inside the car, but I guess it would be better to know sooner inside the car than a leak inside the hump and not aware of it for a long time.

Sometimes I just need a sounding board.

THANKS EVERY ONE!

GO TO THE PARTS STORE, BUY A BIG DIA BRAKE LINE, THEY ARE STEEL & THEY BEND EASLY. DRILL A HOLE NEXT TO HUMP ON PASS SIDE, AS CLOSE TO FLOOR AS POSSABLE.YOU WILL COME OUT RIGHT AT THE STOCK TANK OUTLET LOCATION, FLAIR END OF STEEL LINE THEN CONNECT RUBBER FUEL LINE FROM IT TO TANK. GET A LONG ENOUGHT STEEL LINE TO FOLLOW HUMP BACK UNDER REAR SEAT THEN THRU BACK FIRE WALL DRILL OR USE HOLE ALL READY THERE, FLAIR LINE. THEN AGAIN USE RUBBER FUEL LINE FROM STEEL TO FUEL PUMP. THEN I SLPLIT A PCS OF HOSE ABOUT AN INCH LONG,WRAPPED IT AROUND STEEL LINE WHERE IT GOES THRU HOLES AND SEALED IT WITH SILICONE, I HAVE RUN THIS STYLE.FUEL LINES ON RAILS, BAJA,S & STREET BEETLES. HELL IF YOU LOOK IN MY BAJA RIGHT KNOW YOU WIL SEE THIS SETUP. BUT ONY IF YOUR LOOKING FOR IT , YOU CAN,T TELL ITS THERE AND THERE IS NO WAY YOUR PASS OR ANTHING IS GOING TO DAMAGE IT ANY WAY ,GOOD LUCK WITH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

If I were to run it through the inside of the car, I would use these:
store.summitracing.com...toview=sku
to go through the front and rear firewalls. This tubing:
store.summitracing.com...toview=sku
and these tubing nuts:
store.summitracing.com...toview=sku
with the corrosponding sleeves. Clamped securely to the tunnel.

No open holes, no chance of chaffing. Lasts a long time, never had to replace in past race cars.
