okay I have redone my brakes and guess what??? you guessed it I can't get them to pump up. I've ran a large bottle of fluid thru them, did the buddy system probably 5 times, did the hose in the bottle trick. I have done brake jobs on alot of other cars and have never had this problem. I don't think I have a leak, all the lines have been replaced except the main line thru the car and the 2 at the rear tee. Everything else is new. If I pump on the pedal about a dozen times I can get the pedal to go up about a third of the way, and it will hold, but once I release it they go back to the floor. Thanks for input.

SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A STUCK PISTON ON ONE OF YOU WHEEL CYL, CHECK YOUR SHOES, ARE THEY ADJ,PROPER,LOOK AT YOU WHEEL CYL. MAKE CERTAIN NO PISTONS GOT POPED OUT WHEN YOU PUT ON BRAKES.ADJ. SHOES SO THER TIGHT AGAINST DRUM(SO THEY WONT TURN BY HAND THEN BACK THEM OFF TILL THEY TURN FREE W/SLIGHT DRAG. WHAT DID YOU REPLACE ON YOUR BRAKES, A MASTER CYL. SHOULD BE BENCH PRIMED BEFORE REPLACEMENT, BUT IVE SEEN REBUILT ONES, BLEED OUT AND WORK JUST FINE.

I'm leaning towards adjustment.

THESE ARE NOT SELF ADJ. TRY THE METHOD I SAID AT SAME TIME LOOK FOR ANY FLUID LEAKS AROUND WHEEL CYL. HAVE SOMEONE PUMP THEM UP AND HOLD THEM THEN LISEN BY EACH WHEEL, IF ITS SUCKING THAT MUCH AIR YOU MIGHT HEAR FLUID SQUIRTING, I STILL THINK ADJUSTING THEM WILL WORK FOR YOU. IF SHOES ARE TO FAR AWAY FROM DRUM YOU WILL ALSO GET A LEAKING WHEEL CYL BECAUSE IT HAS TO PUSH SHOES TO FAR.

are they stock drums???

remember to adjust BOTH HALVES of the brake drum. the new brake lines were GERMAN pitch and not JAPANESE??

the last thing would be a faulty massa cylinder.

jack up a rear tire. put the trans in neutral. spin the wheel. does it spin freely more than 2 times around??

the shoes need to be adjusted out to fit the drum......

I have adjusted the shoes and have not found any leaks on new wheel cylinders.

Is the master cylinder old, or new? If new, did you bench bleed it?

The master cylinder is new but no I didn't bench bleed it. Maybe there's air still in it? I've read to tap on it to help release any trapped air???

I would start by pulling it off and bench bleeding it. And verify it is the correct one also.

grab a sturdy working surface. place your massa cyl on it. open the resivior and fill with brake fluid. carefull to not tip it over. take a lond shafted screw driver or other implement and push in the piston at theback side of the massa cyl. do this several times with a holding pause. this will work any air out and fill the gaps. once air stops bubblin up. do it one more time and it should be good. DO NOT DUMP THE FLUID WHEN DONE!!!
top of the brake fluid. cap it and bolt the massa cyl back in.

Like BajaFun said, and if you want less mess, you can pick up some short brake lines at the parts store, bend them back to dump into the resevour.
It is also easier in a vise, so you don't push it around the bench.

And yes, give credit to James, he did say to bench prime it first.
