well, with the assist of Mykul, i have a loaner engine in the ol 59. I strapped in the exhaust last week and found the starter power wire today. (was thrown on top of the trans Embarassed )

my left carb had a stuck float. tapped it and she dropped (im figurin). fuel was pourin out the overflow vent like a drinkin fountain.

now it looks like the timing might be 180* out. have back fire, no start up.

should be runnin in time for the AZBAJA PIZZA NIGHT!! Very Happy

btw. if ya need to check your wiring diagram...go here: www.vintagebus.com ... scrool to "wiring diagrams" at the bottom.

its the dist. yanked the stock vac and installed my 009 with petronix.

the dist shaft does not want to stay seated on the timing gear in the block No! No! No! No!!!!

crank it over. remove the cap and poress the rotor down. the shaft is not aligned with the engine at all. you have to hold the shaft down and turn it slowly till it dropps into its place.

any ideas????

the dist worked in my last engine.

maybe the mechanic threw the dist during disassembly... Rolling Eyes

Sounds to me like you have way to much end play at the dist. shaft. If I'm reading correctly, the dist. pops up off the cam gearwhile cranking? I've seen the bushings at the bottom of the distributor shaft wear out. Also might find a way to peek at the end play of the camshaft? Just my $.02

I loosend the adjusting collar on the dist and removed the mounting nut. pushed that dist ALL the way in and held it there!!!!!

snugged the mounting nut down. pushed on the dist again to ensure seating. hand cranked the engine till i achieved #1 cyl at TDC. lined up the #1 cyl mark on the dist rim with the timing location and tightened the collar.

pumped the gas, turned the key, and YESSSSSS!!!!! WE HAVE IGNITION!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE ENGINE RAN (for the most part) Very Happy . it was cold and needed to warm up.

seems to be a bit rough so its gettin new plugs, wires, and a valve adjustment.....

any volunteers???? Razz
